ARTIST STATEMENT

Anchor 1

As people, we all have beliefs and ideas that we are passionate about. My ideas and beliefs of what I'm passionate about are clearly expressed in my art. My artwork varies from abstract black and white pieces to pen and ink drawings to neon graphics. I also create eerie digital and 2D designs based on emotion, or boldly colorful 3D design pieces. Whatever vision or idea pops up in my head will be the theme of my current work at the time. The themes in my work are black identity, emotion and conspiracies. These themes stem from my beliefs and ideas as a empath, truth-seeker, and a African-American girl.

As a multimedia artist, I have a different process for each medium. When I'm doing digital/graphic design, I sketch ideas and brainstorm first. Then once I have something I like, I do a digital scan and I play with colors and elements using Photoshop or Illustrator. With ink and charcoal drawings, I freely lay down the ink on paper, then I use charcoal  on top of it in a experimental way. For my three-dimensional and photography work,  I use more thought and tend to have more of a structured plan. With all my works I love to experiment. I enjoy using neon lights, bold colors, grayscale, contrast, and light in my work. My work also tends to be thought-provoking, as I want the viewer to walk away feeling like they learned something new.
